[Labor Accident Case] Organic Solvent Poisoning During Drying Operations of Pharmaceutical Intermediates
We will introduce a case where organic solvent poisoning occurred during the drying process of pharmaceutical intermediates.
This is a case study of the drying process of a pharmaceutical intermediate containing a large amount of acetone as a solvent in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. During the production of pharmaceuticals, workers were transferring intermediates to a drying room after filtration, moving them onto trays, and placing the trays onto the shelves of a low-temperature dryer, which resulted in exposure to high concentrations of acetone. After completing their work in the drying room, two workers reported feeling unwell and were taken to the hospital, where they were diagnosed with organic solvent poisoning and received inpatient treatment. **Suggestions** - Workers should wear personal PID monitors while working. - This will allow for monitoring exposure levels and assist in the risk assessment of chemical substances. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
